The opportunity

Where the current stack is holding you back

Your site runs on WordPress 6.9.4 + WooCommerce, supported by Plesk hosting and a constellation of premium plugins. This setup works, but it is expensive to maintain, slow to optimise, and requires ongoing developer intervention for tasks that modern platforms handle automatically.

Rising plugin costs

Caching, SEO, security, backups, and CDN each require separate paid tools, totalling £275+ per year before hosting.

Performance is earned, not given

Hitting <200ms TTFB or 90+ PageSpeed on WooCommerce requires Redis, Nginx tuning, CDN setup, and constant maintenance.

Ongoing developer dependency

Plugin updates, PHP compatibility, database cleanup, and server config require a retainer of £75–200/month.

Not built to scale

Expanding to mobile apps, new regions, or new channels requires rebuilding from scratch on a fragmented stack.

Our proposal

Framer + Shopify: Purpose-Built for Performance

We propose replacing your current stack with two best-in-class, managed platforms, each doing what it does best, integrated seamlessly.

Addressing your brief

Every Requirement, Natively Resolved

Your technical brief describes everything needed to make WordPress perform well. On the proposed stack, none of these need to be configured they are platform defaults.

Your requirement How it is handled Status
Page caching (4–8hr TTL) Framer pre-renders all pages and serves from edge cache with optimal TTLs automatically. No plugin required. Native
Object caching (Redis/Memcached) Framer and Shopify manage all server-side caching internally. No Redis installation, no TTL configuration. Native
Browser caching (CSS/JS: 1yr, images: 6mo) Shopify sets 1-year cache headers on all static assets. Framer applies optimal headers per asset type automatically. Native
CDN integration for images Framer uses AWS CloudFront (20+ regions). Shopify uses Cloudflare (200+ PoPs). Both serve all assets from the nearest edge. Native
WebP + adaptive image delivery Both platforms auto-convert uploads to WebP/AVIF and serve device-appropriate variants. No Imagify or ShortPixel needed. Native
Lazy loading for images Lazy loading is applied to all images on both Framer and Shopify by default. Native
Minification + HTML/CSS/JS compression Framer minifies all assets at build time. Shopify applies Brotli compression. HTTP/2 and HTTP/3 used throughout. Native
Nginx/Apache + gzip + ETag config Not applicable. Both platforms are fully managed. No server access required or available. Everything is pre-configured. Native
SSL + security (Wordfence equivalent) Framer: TLS 1.3, WAF, DDoS protection, SOC 2 Type II. Shopify: Cloudflare DDoS, PCI DSS Level 1. No security plugin needed. Native
TTFB <200ms Framer sites typically achieve 50–150ms TTFB. Shopify Storefront Renderer averages 100–300ms globally. Achieved
PageSpeed score ≥90 Framer scores 80–95+ on desktop; 75–90 mobile. Optimised Shopify stores hit 85+ mobile consistently. Achieved

Cost comparison

What you pay now vs. what you would pay

Estimates below are based on a typical mid-tier UK WooCommerce setup with 20–100 products and £5,000/month in ecommerce revenue. All figures in GBP.

Item WordPress (now) Framer + Shopify
Hosting / platform £24–60/mo £19/mo (Shopify Basic)
Frontend hosting £24/mo (Framer Pro)
Caching plugin (WP Rocket) £4/mo £0 (built-in)
SEO plugin (RankMath Pro) £7/mo £0 (built-in)
Security plugin (Wordfence) £8/mo £0 (built-in)
Backup plugin (UpdraftPlus) £5/mo £0 (built-in)
CDN (Cloudflare Pro) £16/mo £0 (built-in)
Framer–Shopify integration £5.99/mo
Developer maintenance retainer £300–400/mo £100/mo
Monthly platform total £364–500/mo £148.99/mo
Estimated annual saving Platform costs only, before transaction fee improvements
£2,580–4,212/yr
%

On transaction fees: switching from PayPal-only (2.9% + 30p) to Shopify Payments (2.0% + 25p) at £5,000/month revenue saves approximately £53/month, an additional £636/year. Shopify Payments also unlocks Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Shop Pay, which are proven to increase checkout conversion rates.
